Lettuce Wraps

Want a simple meal that's ready in 30 minutes? This is definitely it by all means - lettuce wraps. It's healthy. It's light. It's down right delectable! Super simple and on the table in about a half hour.

Ingredients:
Olive oil
2 cloves of garlic
1/4 cup of red onion
Butter lettuce leaves, separated
3/4 lb of ground turkey
1 cup of cilantro
1 cup of shredded carrots
1/2 tsp of cumin powder
1/2 tsp of oriental curry powder
2 tbsp of hoisin sauce
Salt & pepper to taste
1 tsp of crushed red pepper flakes
Peanut sauce (optional)

Directions:
Start with mincing the 2 cloves of garlic. If you've only got runts, use 3-4.

Dice up the red onion.

Get some olive oil into a skillet, and throw in the crushed red pepper flakes.

Saute the onions and garlic until fragrant.

Once you smell the goodness of the garlic/onion mixture, add in the ground turkey and start to brown the meat.

Now, add salt, ground black pepper, cumin powder, & oriental curry spice. You can normally find this at Indian or Asian grocery stores. I always keep it on hand as it is extremely flavorful and adds awesomeness to any dish you're making!

Once the spices are added, add about 2 tbsp. of  hoisin sauce to the turkey mixture. Make sure it's mixed well. as it will add a ton of flavor.

Bring the mixture down to a simmer. While this hangs out on the stove, get all your other ingredients ready. Separate the lettuce leaves carefully from the lettuce head.

Gather the shredded carrots...yes, I cheated. I bought them instead of shredding it myself. You can call me out on it, but hey sometimes I need shortcuts too!

Chop up the cilantro.

The meat is probably done cooking, so go ahead and transfer it to a bowl.

Time to eat and build those lettuce wraps!

You can choose to drizzle this with peanut sauce. I keep it at the table cuz I know the hubs is going to want it for sure!

YUM!
